DEVELOPMENT WITHIN A LOW CARBON WORLD: Preparing Professionals for Deserter Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation

The IDEC, School of Urban and Regional Planning, the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP-SURF) and Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, the University of Texas at Austin (UT-LBJ) are jointly launching Summer Course 2012, which selected young researchers and specialists will be invited.

We will invite:

  • Ten IDEC master and doctoral course students who are participating in the GELs Program
  • Ten GELs/IDEC alumni
  • Ten UP students
  • Ten UT LBJ students
  • Five local experts in the Philippines

Participants are required to attend ALL the classes throughout the course to receive a certificate upon completion.

Eligibility

GELs, GELs and IDEC alumni and UT LBJ students who:

  • are in Master or Doctoral course and/or have a Master’s or Ph.D. degree
  • have a strong interest in the theme of the summer course
  • can attend ALL the classes and group work throughout the course

Registration fee

Summer Course 2012 is free of charge for the registration for this year.

Financial Support

Participants can receive following financial supports according to their status:

  • GELs students
    • Airfare
    • Accommodation fee for a shared hotel room
  • GELs and IDEC alumni (outside the Philippines)
    • Airfare
    • Accommodation fee for a shared hotel room
    • Please note that the fees related to visa application will NOT be reimbursed. <<Visa information>>
  • Local participants from OUTSIDE Metro Manila:
    • Travel expenses (domestic flight and/or train; only in case you can submit receipts)
    • Accommodation fee for a shared hotel room
    • We only provide financial supports for those will attend from OUTSIDE of Metro Manila, thus will not offer any, neither travel expenses nor a hotel room, to those who live IN Metro Manila so that can commute every morning.
